"The region of South Bohemia is situated in the south-west of Bohemia, which is one of the parts of the Czech Republic. The area of the region is about 10 000 sq. km, which is about 13 per cent of the whole republic. The population is about 640 000 inhabitants and the density of population is 63 inhabitants per sq. km. This region was founded in 2000 and until 2001 the name was The region of the town České Budějovice.

The landscape is known a lot for its rich ponds in the middle of the region, especially in the Basins of Třeboň and České Budějovice. The biggest pond is called Svět, which means the World. Also in the town of Třeboň tourists can visit local spa, which is very famous in our region.

All around these basins we can find quite hilly arena, which comes into the mountains of Šumava and Novohradské hory. We can find a couple of glacial lakes in the mountains of Šumava and a lot of beautiful and quiet forests. One part of this area is called the Boubín virgin forest, which is almost untouched by the humankind."
