Bulletin of the Moscow Regional Society of Hunters

We have 3-4 issues of the bulletin published by the Board of the Moscow Regional Society of Hunters. The impressive 80-page book is well designed, drawings and photographs in the text, diverse content. It would probably be more consistent with a magazine than a newsletter. It is written in helpless, gray language: "it is necessary to provide", "it is necessary to use", "it is necessary to provide", "it is necessary to emphasize", "it is necessary to organize", "it is necessary to direct", "it is necessary to contact", "it is necessary to accept". All this heap of monotonous clerical phrases permeates the article from beginning to end. In the flow of colorless and faceless words on the most burning topic for hunters, a large and vigorous work on wild breeding remains completely undiscovered, which this year is being carried out on a large scale by the Moscow Regional Society of Hunters. We are not talking about other clumsy phrases, such as "restoration of sharply reduced game stocks, in which the broad masses of hunters are interested" or the wish that "dogs of districts could take part in a regional exhibition." What nonsense, the reader will say: are hunters interested in reducing game stocks? And the dogs! They can be shown at the exhibition, but not take part in it in any way.

Hunting ethics requires hunters not to remain passive observers of the actions of those who violate the rules and laws of hunting, but actively, regardless of the person, to fight for these rules and laws to be respected and observed. And N. Kochetkov's article, in which there are a lot of arguments about hunting ethics, does not teach hunters this, but leads them aside, arousing hostility between hunters.

The Moscow Hunting Bulletin needs serious improvement. Its main materials, as it can be seen from No. 3-4, bear the stamp of carelessness of editing and thoughtlessness of the people responsible for its release.
