"It is one of the biggest falconidae. It has a wing span of approximately 1 m. Its eyes are beautiful brown colour. It flies three times faster than the pigeon.
It lives in open-space countryside as well as in plains, hills and high mountainous regions. It nests in caves, ruins of buildings and in trees in previous bird predators´nests. Its occurence is world-wide.
It is one of the best air acrobats. The favourite preys are birds (pigeons) preyed on when flying. It preys on birds, even bigger ones than the predator itself, rarely mammals.
The female is bigger and weighs approximately one kilogram. It doesn´t make a nest. It breeds once a year. The egg-laying occurs mostly in March or April. The female lays three to four eggs on a rock shelf.
Its average lifespan is 10 years. Lithe falcons are bred, tamed and trained for hunting. Unfortunately, the number of falcons in our country has been on the decrease.
I would like to have a falcon but I don´t have the conditions to keep it. Today it is a critically endangered species."
