"I have decided to write about my favourite hobby. It is called windsurfing. I would like to introduce this sport to you and tell you something about its history and about places, where you can surf in the Czech republic.
Windsurfing is a surface water sport that combines both sailing and surfing and uses a one-person craft called a sailboard. The basic sailboard is composed of a board and a rig. The board is usually two or three meters long and each board has its specific displacement of water. The rig comprising a mast, a wishbone boom and a sail is connected to the board by a free-rotating joint. The sail is placed on a mast and stretched by a wishbone boom. The sail area can range from less than 3 m2 to more than 12 m2. The area of the sail depends on the intensity of the wind and on the skill of the sailor. But windsurfers use more equipment than only a board and a sail. They use also neoprene clothing to prevent themselves from cold water, gloves to protect their fingers, harnesses, lifejackets, neoprene shoes etc."
