There are many rivers and lakes in America. The largest rivers are the Mississippi and the Missouri. Other rivers are the Colorado river, the Niagara river. Well-known lakes are The Great Lakes on the border with Canada.
There are a lot of different mountains, for example The Rocky Mountains or Sierra Nevada in the west. The highest mountain is Mount McKinley in Alaska (over 6 000 metres).
In America, there are a lot of national parks - for example Sequoia National Park, Yellowstone National Park, Grand Canyon in Arizona.
States:
The USA has 50 states and a District of Columbia (D.C.). Historically the first state is Delaware, which is in the East Coast. Alaska is the biggest state, it is located in the north, and it has the longest coast in the USA. The second largest state of the USA is Texas. The state where people like to go on holiday is Florida, it is called the Sunshine state, there are nice beaches in Miami.
- Los Angeles is the second biggest city in the USA, it is in southern California. It is famous for films, actors, the Oscars, Hollywood Boulevard with stars on the sidewalk; Beverly Hills is a place where many rich and famous people live.
- another important city in California is San Francisco - with the famous symbol the Golden Gate Bridge, connecting the city, which is probably the most photographed bridge in the world; there is Alcatraz Island which was the prison in the past, there is a well-known place called Chinese town, which is the centre of Chinese culture in the USA. There are many earthquakes in this city."
