"Prague is the capital and the largest city in the Czech Republic. It is located in central Bohemia. Population is about 1 million. The river Vltava flows through Prague. Fifteen bridges cross the river. Prague is seat Czech president Miloš Zeman. There are located big national institutions and a lot of organizations. Prague is political and culture centre.
Prague’s history goes back 11 centuries. In the past, it used to be the seat of Czech kings.
Nowadays Prague is ones of the most famous and beautiful cities in the world. Some people call Prague ,,the golden city´´ or ,,the mother of cities´´ and hundred - spired.
Historical centre of Prague is on the list UNESCO, because there are a lot of historical buildings with many styles f.e. Gothic, Baroque or modern architecture.
Prague castle is one of the famous sights in Prague and it is the most visited sights in the Czech Republic. It is the largest castle complex in the world, according to the Guinness Book of World Records. Also at Prague Castle is one of the country’s most important churches, St. Vitus Cathedral, which holds the nation’s crown jewels.
Perhaps the most popular building is the Old Town Hall with the astronomical clock. The Old Town Hall was built in 14th century. Her tower is almost 70 meter high. The astronomical clock is located on the south side of the tower. The Old Town Hall is located in the Old Town Square. There are Christmas markets every year.
Near Old Town Square is located the Jewish town with cemetery. Jewish cemetery is the biggest in the Czech Republic. There is buried Rabi Löw. Man, who allegedly made the monster called Golem.
Other popular tourist attraction is Charles bridge. It was built in 14th century by King Charles IV. Charles bridge is the oldest bridge in Prague. Legend say: Charles bridge was built from eggs and mortar. But scientists say: It isn´t true. Charles Bridge is 516 meters long and 10 meters wide. It is an open‑air gallery of unique Baroque statues. The most famous statue is St. John Nepomuk.
If you can see some baroque buildings, you must see St. Nicolas Church. In my opinion it is the nicest baroque church in Prague. It was built from architecture Christopher Dienzenhofer.
Tourists can visit Petřín view tower too. It was inspired by the Eiffel tower. Near Petřín view tower is planetarium and mirror labyrinth.
Other attractive sights are f. e. Municipal house, Betlem´s Chapel, Břevnov´s monastery or castle in Trója.
If you like museums, there are a lot of museums f. e. National museum, National Gallery, Jewish museum or National technical museum. The most popular is the National museum. It is located in St. Wenceslav´s square. It is the busiest square in Prague, because there is a lot of tourists, restaurants, pubs and shops. There is the most famous statue in Prague – St. Wenceslav´s statue.
Culture live in Prague is very rich. People can go to concerts, festivals, discos, cinemas or to theatre. The nicest ant the most popular theatre in Prague is the National theatre. It was built in newrenesance style and there are valuable painting from very famous Czech painter Mikoláš Aleš.
Other from famous building is the Charles university too. It is the oldest university in the Czech Republic. It was built by King Charles IV.
Prague is very attractive place for family with children. They can go to Zoo, to botanic garden or to Aquapalace Prague. There are a lot of water attractions and toboggans.
I have been in Prague a few times. I like Prague. It is very nice and interesting city."
