Canada is situated in northern part of north America. It borders with Aljaska and the USA. Canada has with the USA the longest undefended border. Canada is divided in 3 territories and 10 provinces. Territories are Northwest Territories, Nunavut and Yukon. The biggest province is Quebec. In Canada there are 33-35 million people and the area is 10 mil sq. km. The capital city is Ottawa. Canada is bilingual, 2 main languages are English and French. The currency is Canadian dollar.
Canada has large mountain areas – the Rocky Mountains, the Mackenzie Mountains and the Melville Hills. The highest mountain is Mt. Logan in the Alaska Region. The longest rivers are the Yukon, the Fraser, the Mackenzie, the Columbia, the River St. Lawrence. The Great Lakes Region is the largest area of fresh water in the world. Lakes are Great Bear Lake, Great Slave Lake and Lake Winnipeg.
Climate on the north in the south of Canada is moderate.
Origin people are Eskimos (Inuits).
Canada was discovered in the 15. century by Jacques Cartier. Territories were occupied by the French but during the wars between the French and the British it became British province and in the 19. Century it became dominion.
The head of state is Queen Elizabeth II. In fact she doesn´t rule, the head of Canada is the governor-general. The federal parliament consisting of 2 houses: The House of Commons and The Senate. The head of the government is prime minister.
Canadian flag consists of white square between the 2 red stripes. White symbolise snow and red colour symbolise the blood of Canadians who dies during the wars. In the middle is red maple leaf.
Canada is rich of gold, coal, oil, gas and other metal ores. Important part of economy is wood industry (furniture, paper mills), chemical industry, mining. Canada is large exporters of wheat, tobacco, leather."
