"The Czech Republic
Geography: The Czech Republic is located in the middle of Europe. The country borders with Austria in the south, Slovakia in the east, Poland in the north and Germany in the west. The country hasn‘t got any sea.
Surface: There are a lot of mountains. The biggest ones are the Giant mountains in the north with the highest peak Sněžka (1602 meters). Other big mountains are Jeseníky, Šumava, which is in the south-west on the border with Austria and Germany, and Beskydy in the east. In Moravia and around river Labe there are flats suitable for agriculture.
Rivers and lakes: The longest river is the Vltava, which flows to the Labe close to the town called Mělník. Other important rivers are the Labe, which runs through Germany and flows to North sea, the Odra, which runs through Poland and flows to the Balt sea and the Morava which flows to Donau. There aren‘t many big lakes in the Czech Republic. There are mostly in Šumava and most of them are glacial ones. The biggest one is Black Lake.
Climate: Climate is mild with warm summers and winters with snow. There aren‘t big differences in temperatures.
Population: Population is about 10 million. The density is average. The biggest cities are Prague, Brno, Ostrava, and Pilsen. In the Czech Republic also live a lot of people from Slovakia.
Economy: The Czech Republic is an industrial country. The main industries are food industry, mining (coal, uranium), car industry (Škoda Mladá Boleslav), glassblowing and engineering. Our country is the biggest producer of beer in the world. The currency is the Czech crown. The most important minerals are uranium, coal and china clay
System of government: The Czech Republic is a republic with a president as the head and Parliament which consists of the Senate and the House of Parliament. The president is now Miloš Zeman. The capital city is Prague. The country consists of three parts, Czechia, Moravia, and Slezia. The anthem is Kde domov můj."
