Parents and Peer Pressure
There are a lot of things which can influence young people. At first, there are parents who want their children to be the best and they often have their own imagination about the future and life of their children. They can make their children do something which they don‘t want. For example, the parents want their child to be a doctor but the child is afraid of blood and he/she is not good at biology at all. And of course, they don‘t like music and clothes which their children like and it can also cause a lot of big problems.
Then there are peers and friends. Young people want to be like other people of the same age. This is called peer pressure. They want to wear the same clothes, they listen to the same music and they have the same opinions. Nobody wants to differ from others. They pretend that they are somebody else. Those young people who are different can have low self- esteem and they can feel lonely and sad or even suffer from depression.
Eating disorders
Pop culture also influences young people mainly in a negative way. Mainly girls want to look like their favourite actress or singer and they go on a diet of some sort. And very often they have to go to the hospital to be treated for eating disorders. The most well-known are anorexia and bulimia. Anorexia is an emotional disorder, which affects mainly young women. They are extremely afraid of being fat, so they stop eating and it causes dangerous lose of weight or death. Bulimia is an unemotional disorder in which a person repeatedly eats too much and then forces himself/herself to vomit. "
